The speed which Vodafone’s mobile broadband offers is 7.2Mbps. The quality of signal & download speeds will depend on where you’re & other factors. As a general rule, you will get mobile broadband coverage in & around cities & towns. Five times you start moving in to rural areas it is touch & go. Also, because it is a mobile service there is no way to know how lots of other users there’s in the same cell at any two times, so speeds can vary a lot.
However, in general connection speeds are nice at about 1.5Mb, however they will vary by location & may be affected by weather conditions. When you will use the service you will find it good even in the train tunnels it works well. The modem is neat, easy to over & installs itself.
All in all, Vodafone mobile broadband is a nice product. The £15 per month 3GB option is affordable.
Whether it’s reached the level where it can be recommended as a replacement for a home broadband line is questionable.
However, if you spend time commuting on a train each day or if you travel a lot in general it offers excellent speeds & coverage for broadband on the go for what is now an affordable price.
Virgin’s mobile broadband service runs on T-Mobile’s 3G network. When we tested the speed of Virgin connection it was pretty impressive and there was no problem in downloading and uploading.
The packages you will find are available on a £15, 18-month contract which comes with 3GB of data each month. The ISP claims this is sufficient to send 2,000 plain text emails as well as surf the web for 100 hours and make 100 two-minute downloads every month.
T-Mobile is owned by Germans and no doubt they do a really good job. You will find T-Mobile really reliable and up to it’s mark. They are also pipping Vodafone to the post for network quality, plus they have launched HSUPA (for high speed uploads and snappier web access) across their entire network. Bravo T-Mobile.
T-Mobile has focussed mainly on a single tool – the excellent, super hasty T-Mobile USB Stick 530 aka the Option Icon 431. You cannot receive a better modem for your money. If you start with a T-Mobile service you will get a nice phone to start with.
T-Mobile price plans are simple and great value. At the price of £2 per day you can get a plan and with that you can also go with a monthly package in which they offer 3 GB or 10 GB. In this you will get a free access of Wi Fi in the same cost and some other extra packages. One more thing to be added you can officially not use any Voip services like skype. Perhaps the single, most valuable and unique feature of T-Mobile’s price plans are that they are fair usage based.
Offering speeds of up to 8Mb with a recently doubled usage limit of 10GB (it was 5GB), most web users will find this BT Total Option 1 over.
If you are serious about using your BT broadband connection to the max though, you should consider BT Total Option 3 which allows unlimited downloads, within the realms of their fair use policy owner of course.
BT’s broadband is offering pretty cool packages to start with and they also have improved there services which might give user an edge.

O2 Mobile Broadband is the new broadband on the go service from O2. Connecting to the net over a range of fast connections including 3G, EDGE, GPRS and Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi of O2 allows you to use it over 75000 places which is like any where in the UK.
The dongle of O2 connects directly in the computer you are using. Which gives you options to search on the internet right away. It also has a LED in it which basically shows you that what kind of connection you are using, so you’ll know if you are in a hotspot or not.
