The cult MTV hit is the sort of exceedingly stupid thing that can only be the work of clever people; in this case, a collection of old-enough-to-know-better delinquents who appear to have taken the wisdom about the dumbing-down of popular culture as a challenge. The difference between Jackass and most dumb things on television is that other dumb things on television like to pretend that they're arch, or clever, or at the very least camp. Jackass makes no such pretensions, and for this reason it is incredibly, liberating and funny. There is no subtext to any of this. Johnny Knoxville and company think of something supremely idiotic to do, and do it. We see them riding down hills on ice blocks, inviting a fire crew to turn their hoses on them, and trying to ride bicycles around a 360-degree wooden loop while dressed as chickens. 	The Corrs - Live In London [2000] Se flere produkter fra Amazon The Corrs--Live in London lacks the atmosphere of their 1999 homecoming Dublin gig, Live at Lansdowne Road. The London stadium location creates a sterile atmosphere and adds an uncomfortable, claustrophobic edge to their performance. That aside, the concert once again affirms their position as one of the best live acts around and resolutely challenges the assumption that studio recordings are always better than the live versions. Perhaps this is why it was decided to release another Corrs live show rather than a greatest hits video collection to coincide with the launch of their Best of audio anthology. Hearing and viewing their stunning performance of tracks such as "Forgiven, Not Forgotten" and "Dreams", it's easy to understand why the band still has such universal appeal. On the DVD: the group's exquisite rendition of "Happy Christmas (War is Over)", included as a bonus track, is one of the numerous added features. Choose from three different audio formats to listen to the concert and view the show in wide screen or standard picture format. The concert cinematography is excellent, with crystal-clear picture quality. The live performances of "Dreams", "Radio" and "Breathless" can also be viewed from five different camera angles. However the 360-degree camera angle version of "So Young" (available only to those accessing the disk on a DVD-ROM drive) fails to live up to expectation: the viewing window is tiny, and the picture quality particularly poor. The 20-minute "Access All Areas" documentary (made by and originally shown on Sky One) is excellently produced and provides an added, more personable dimension to the DVD.-- John Galilee Fragt: Ukendt! 	From Beyond The Grave [1973] Se flere produkter fra Amazon From Beyond the Grave is an anthology film adapted from four short stories by R. Chetwynd-Hayes, strung together under the pretext of an antique dealer who owns a shop called Temptations Ltd. and the fate that befalls his customers who try to cheat him. First up is "The Gate Crasher" with David Warner who frees an evil entity from an antique mirror; then "An Act of Kindness" featuring Donald Pleasence; followed by "The Elemental;" and "The Door." From Beyond The Grave was the directorial debut of Kevin Connor who would go onto become a modest name in genre cinema. It was actually one of Connor's best films and he demonstrates exceptional directorial style. Particularly good are the seance scenes in the first episode where Connor conducts some inventive 360-degree pan shots with a candle that explodes between a flickering flame and a jet in the foreground. The murders in this segment are vividly staged, with Connor creating some marvelously sinister images of David Warner standing about in bloodstained clothes and a totally wrecked apartment. --Sally Giles Fragt: Ukendt! 	Doves - Where We're Calling From [2002] Se flere produkter fra Amazon Watching Doves: Where We're Calling From, with its plethora of additional material above and beyond the top-quality music, it's easy to forget that the Doves have only released two albums to date. This is a band that has worked tirelessly to nurture a dark but accessibly intelligent sound and image--a mix of Oasis-style pop-rock coupled with the bleak desperation of Radiohead. Thematically, the disc draws on their darker side. It has a state-of-the-art opening menu, incorporating a panoramic sub-apocalyptic cityscape, and a haunting soundtrack. This continues a theme established in some of their promo videos, which mock the fake idealism of modern society, particularly the loss of identity through consumerism ("There Goes the Fear") and the failure of planned urban utopias ("Pounding"). Mourning the demise of craftsmanship, the sepia video for "Sea Song" comprises footage of a man constructing a wooden rocking chair. Contributing to the strange, claustrophobic atmosphere of the DVD, the concert footage recorded at Cornwall's futuristic Eden project includes live performances of their greatest hits and selected album tracks. Performed in front of the eerily lit domes, the show sums up the Doves' weird mass appeal. On the DVD: Doves: Where We're Calling From heralds a new era in music DVD by reinventing selection menus. Instead of numerous sub-menus, all of the features are included on one huge menu that can be navigated by using the left and right keys on the remote control, creating a 360-degree feel.
