The result, Sega Superstars, is an excellent party game that all the family can enjoy. Really. It features twelve minigames in all, each drawing inspiration from a Sega hit. Thus, the Sonic section demands a balancing act as you use your body to guide gaming's most infamous hedgehog on his latest quest for coins. Meanwhile, the Virtua Striker segment is more simplistic--you simply head a football and try and hit various targets, whilst Virtua Fighter is great as you punch and kick your opponent into submission. Space Channel 5 has you mimicking dance movements meanwhile, and Samba de Amigo is outstanding fun, as your arms become substitutes for maracas. The highlight though is born from one of the firm's lower profile franchises. Puyo Pop is a work of some genius, as you use your body to direct blobs into the right colour receptacle. You'll find yourself contorting into distinctly unhealthy shapes as you try to beat the top score, and having similarly unhealthy amounts of fun as you do so. In a pack of twelve, it's unsurprising that not everything hits, and we can't see the House of the Dead nor Billy Hatcher segments being used too often. But nonetheless Sega Superstars delivers buckets of entertainment, and then some. In fact if the Scene It? name hadn't been licensed from the popular range of board games Microsoft probably would've been on the receiving end of a few stern letters from Sony's lawyers. As it is the game's main gimmick, that it comes with four special game show buzzer controllers, is identical to Buzz! They even look exactly the same, although Microsoft has got the extremely shaky defence that the Buzz! games have never been released in America. If you've not played the original board and DVD game version of the concept the basic idea is that you are presented with a series of themed and general knowledge movie trivia questions, many linked to a series of clips from the respective movies. The game comes with over 1,800 questions and more than 20 styles of puzzle. These include trying to complete a famous movie quote, guessing a movie title from a partial list of credits and working out a movie's name based on a child's drawing. Using the buzzers insure that no one can get intimidated by the regular Xbox 360 joypad, with the giant buzzer at the top used to cut in when you think you've got the answer and the four smaller buttons used for answering multiple choice questions. Mario Slam Basketball (Nintendo DS)Se flere produkter fra AmazonBefore the advent of the PlayStation, Japanese publishers Square Enix and Nintendo used to be the best of friends. But when Square Enix tried to split their games between the PS one and N64, Nintendo was too jealous to share and they ended up falling out - a friendship only renewed in the last few years. There can be few that imagined that one of the first new games to evolve out of the partnership would be a basketball sim featuring both the usual Mushroom Kingdom suspects and Final Fantasy characters (White Mage, Black Mage, Ninja, Cactuar and Moogle). The result is even more bizarre than most Mario sports games, but only slightly less entertaining. To its credit, the game makes more use of the touch screen than most on the DS, with all the actions bar movement achieved using the stylus (although the basics can be replicated using the face buttons if you want to be boring). Your character dribbles the ball automatically but you can speed them up by tapping the screen and throws are managed simply by drawing the stylus in a straight line. A surprisingly subtle amount of control can be achieved, including several kinds of trick shots and even swapping hands when playing defense. A variety of special courts also complicate things with coins collected along the way adding to your score when shooting. Indeed the whole game works so well that the only real problem is the mechanical enemy artificial intelligence. It's therefore a real shame that playing multiplayer requires both people to own a cartridge each, although that's undoubtedly a result of the game's superb graphics which go well above the call of duty for a simple sports game.
