Call of Duty 3 (PS3)Se flere produkter fra AmazonIn a nutshell: After the last game became the best selling launch title for the Xbox 360, Activision aren’t wasting any time with the follow-up as you do you bit to help out with the Normandy breakout and the liberation of France. The lowdown: Despite the new digit in the title this isn’t so much a sequel to Call of Duty 2 on the 360 and PC as it is Call of Duty: Big Red One on the PS2, Xbox and GameCube. It’s by the same developer (Treyarch), there’s no PC version and it doesn’t feature three distinct armies, but instead a recreation of the Normandy breakout. That’s not to suggest it’s short on new ideas though with much larger levels than ever before and far more vehicles to control (particularly in the Battlefield like multiplayer mode). There’s also a new Resident Evil 4 style quick time event system for hand-to-hand combat where you have to hit specific buttons to sock it to the Nazi hordes. Most exciting moment: It may seem a bit shallow to go on about the game’s explosions but really, there’s never been anything as realistic as the fireworks in this game. The way the smoke moves is particularly amazing, even drifting in the wind or dispersing after a second nearby explosion. Since you ask: Although Activision has confirmed nothing yet they have hinted that original Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward are working on their own sequel, primarily for the PC. When it will come out and whether it will be translated to the next generation consoles is currently unknown. The bottom line: The best WII first person shooter looks to be getting even better. Mario Golf: Advance Tour (GBA)Se flere produkter fra AmazonTrying to simulate golf on the Game Boy Advance doesn't seem a particularly obvious idea and nor, quite frankly does adding Mario and a role-playing game element - but despite it all Mario Golf: Advance Tour is easily the best portable sports sim yet seen. The central simulation of golf is extremely solid and features the traditional three-click swing power bar, after touch, topspin, backspin and all the expected problems with wind, grass type and which club to use. The putting is perhaps a little over simplistic but apart from that this is about as realistic a simulation of golf as you could expect on the GBA. Although realism is king with the golf itself the rest of the game is as charmingly nonsensical as any other Mario game, even though you actually control your own more normal looking character (who can subsequently be uploaded to the GameCube version of Mario Golf) during the game. As mentioned the story mode is much more complex than any normal career mode and is basically a stripped down role-playing game, complete with experience points, shops and non-player characters to chat too. Add to this a quick game mode that gives you instant access to match, stroke and doubles play, as well as wackier game modes such as Go-Go Gates (a variant on Toadstool Tour's Ring Shot mode), and a fully featured four-player mode that works either on one GBA or linked-up via the forthcoming wireless adapter and you've got the ultimate portable golfing experience - with added Mario. -- David Jenkins Inkl. fragt: Ukendt |

Master both guns and swords as you play through the bloodiest game yet on the Wii. The lowdown: One of the biggest third party games announced exclusively for the Wii, this is also the first proper first person shooter for the new console. You use the nunchuck controller to move around and the Wii remote to aim your weapons with real precision (the game even knows when you’re holding a gun sideways, gangsta style). When using a sword the motion sensors in the nunchuck are used to block and you can slash away with the Wii remote. The graphics aren’t massively more impressive than a good GameCube game but the seedy Japanese back streets and giant explosions look great and the artificial intelligence for enemies is already quite a challenge. Most exciting moment: The game features an ability to called freeze tagging which allows you to slow down time and “tag” enemy body parts with the Wii remote. When you switch back to normal time you can take down each enemy you tagged instantly. Since you ask: As seen at E3 the sword controls do not respond exactly to the movements you make with the Wii remote, for example moving the remote up actually causes a downward thrust. Following complaints though Ubisoft have promised to change things for the final game. The bottom line: The Wii gets violent with the next gen’s only first person sword fighter.
