It's hardly an original plot, but perhaps that's fitting for a movie sewn together like Frankenstein's monster. It rushes from one frenetic battle to another, replacing sense with spectacle--Nemo's submarine rising from the water, a warehouse full of zeppelins bursting into flame, Venice collapsing into its own canals. Twista Kamikaze: Special EditionSe flere produkter fra AmazonTwista's warp-speed raps may have got him into the Guinness Book of World Records, but Kamikaze confirms that there's more to him than just outpacing the competition. He can out-boast them too. Straight out of the blocks he's taunting his peers, waving his bank balance, record sales and gangsta credentials in their faces, challenging them to come and have a go if they think they're fast enough. Though hardly abnormal rap behaviour, for once, having an ego bigger than America isn't without reason. "Get Me" and "Pimp On" may be stock gangsta frontin', but their respective bleak drama and cruising slouch would make Jay-Z nod along approvingly. But it's when he turns his hyperactive couplets to having fun that really scores. Relaxing to a G-funk strut, "Drink" has him cheekily working through the cocktail menu, recalling various ladies that the exotic concoctions (Sex on the Beach, Slow Screw) remind him of. Meanwhile, running through a list of smooth soul artists who will improve his pulling power, single "Slow Jamz" rolls out a satiny groove and a sly sense of humour: "I'm gonna play this Vandross, you gonna take your pants off." Not to worry, though--if there's any justice in the world, Lifestyle marks the point where Silkworm break out of their cosy cocoon. Startling and loveable, this Seattle three-piece's seventh album is the peer and equal of the sunshine-rock of Built To Spill's Keep It Like A Secret. With Shellac frontman Steve Albini applying an uncharacteristically light touch at the controls, Silkworm are the antithesis of rock and roll as ego-trip, with guitarist Andy Cohen, drummer Michael Dahlquist and bassist Tim Midgett each stepping up to the microphone with a ream of songs as the mood takes them. Certainly, there is no sign of the acrimonious breach that became so evident on Husker Du's Candy Apple Grey, where Bob Mould and Grant Hart pulled in two equally thrilling but ultimately fractitious directions; this is a gorgeous, remarkably settled album--a nod towards REM, on Cohen's breezy "Treat The New Guy Right", a wave to Pavement on the flamboyant countrified shamble of Midgitt's "Slave Wages". But now the original trio (including drummer Emmett "Murph" Murphy) has reunited for the first time since Barlow's split, and the 11-song outcome makes one ask: Why did they wait so long? Mascis's thunderous "Almost Ready," featuring both his combustible guitar and weary vocals, is the perfect blast-off, allowing Murphy's backbeat to set a turbulent pace early, and while songs like "Been There All the Time" and the Neil Young accolade "This Is All I Came to Do" have Mascis as primed as ever, Barlow (whose '90s-era Sebadoh set the bar for lo-fi bands) reappears with two of the record's strongest tracks: the poppy "Lightning Bulb" and "Back to Your Heart," which recalls late-in-the-game Hüsker Dü.
