A Teen Dance OrdinanceSe flere produkter fra AmazonOn their fourth album, Teen Dance Ordinance, A have undergone yet another transmogrification, mutating from the Sting that it's alright to mosh to into a thrashy, hard-rock band of furious energy and impressive capability. Kicking off with the explosive "Rush Song" - which sees frontman Jason Perry shrieking about "shitting bricks" and sneering "Hey! This is a love song/Hands up if you feel it", while it so very clearly isn't - this is a record that comfortably runs rings round most of the heavy-rock competition, the likes of "The Art Of Making Sense" and "2nd Coming" meshing buzzsaw guitars and Adam Perry's frenetic, on-point drumming with a nagging tunefulness (since day one, something of an A trump-card). The lack of chirpiness could be down to several things: the influence of producer Terry Richardson, known for his work with Pantera, the Deftones and Soundgarden; or the recording locale, Seattle's Studio X, which has previously hosted the likes of Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Aztec Camera High Land Hard RainSe flere produkter fra AmazonRoddy Frame was slightly ahead of his time. In 1983, when he wrote, arranged and--with the help of his band, Aztec Camera--recorded High Land, Hard Rain, he was just 19 years old; and Britpop, the genre Aztec Camera in part inspired, wouldn't become popular for another decade. There is certainly more to High Land, Hard Rain than Britpop, however. Frame, a stellar acoustic guitar strummer, fills the 13 songs with jazz chords, and Aztec Camera's grooves foreshadow British jazz popsters the Style Council and Everything But the Girl. Whether making you dance ("Oblivious", "Queen's Tattoos") or reflect ("The Bugle Sounds Again", "We Could Send Letters"), Frame proves a master craftsman. Various Artists Nice Up the Dance: Studio One Discomixes [VINYL]Se flere produkter fra AmazonDancehall ragga-hop rips straight out of the Kingston-Brooklyn crossroads, with Nice Up the Dance making up a big, brash set loaded with 13 hard-edged bouncers. Kenny Dope and Screechy Dan provide a body-blow opener with "Boomin' in Ya Jeep", strutting with a huge, crashing beat and deranged, desperate vocals spouting and drooling over a rumbling bass bottom. Cutty Ranks favours shifty, slipping rhythms, toasting right on top of the beat, dodging and ducking, shunting rapidly between the two parts of his "Who Say Me Done". The entire collection seethes with uncontained energy, lightening up only slightly with Ms. Thing's Tom Tom Club electro-feel on "Get That Money". The hardcore rapping side surfaces on J-Live's "Satisfied" and Pompidou easily qualifies for the most rasping voice, while Singer Blue's "If I Know Jah" has an almost oriental vibe, its tip-toe rhythm nimbly walking on eggshells. Other stand-outs are the hip-hop mix of Tenor Saw's classic "Ring the Alarm", the sheer pulsing drama of Sean Paul's "Infiltrate", the jogging robotics of Chaka Demus & Pliers' "The Boom" and the slab-hop wallop packed by Shaggy's "Gunshot", with Kenny Dope once more riding hard at the desk.
