If you are tech savvy, Samsung S8000 Jet would be a great choice. However the design of the phone is such that you may find it a cheap phone.
The Samsung S8000 Jet mobile phone has made its entry into the mobile market with quite a lot show and pomp and statements like it is far better than the iPhone as well. In fact, Samsung S8000 Jet has been called as a smart phone which is even smarter. How true all the claims are can only be checked only after studying the handset step by step!
With TouchWiz 2.0 OS and Samsung’s proprietary user interface are the first and foremost things one notices in Samsung S8000 Jet. This 3.1 inches wide AMOLED screen integrated mobile phone which measures 108.9mm by 11.9mm by 53.5mm is powered by a 800MHz processor. The features mentioned above are not at all bad but it is very hard to find the reasons why it has been compared with the likes of a smart phone.
It indeed scores over its size. It is quite small and feels good to hold. It fits in pockets so neatly and is a pleasure to carry along wherever you go. But the plastic chassis is not a welcome thing in Samsung S8000 Jet for sure. Even its 110 grams of weight is not complimenting its dimensions and going against it in every manner. It strangely looks cheap to hold. It’s really unfortunate that the phone in spite of some good features and design cannot claim to be a well spent phone. It does look cheap in spite of that vibrant red prismatic effect that goes through the back of the handset.
It is surely not that the plastic thing is bad. But if the designer would have added even a bit of a stronger material it would have got that missing class and sophistication which would have added that real feel of a mobile phone to Samsung S8000 Jet.
Otherwise, there are no complaints with the design aspect and even the buttons are good. Presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top of the phone is a delight. The QWERTY keyboard unfortunately cannot easily be used in the landscape mode. Even to watch videos is a bit difficult.
On the whole, you would find Samsung S8000 Jet comprising of all important features that one would require and the best part is that they might not be the best but function really well. There is a room for improvements but on the whole a good attempt.

What’s good about the Samsung S8000 Jet

Samsung S8000 Jet is a complete package and is a hit!!! It won’t be wrong in calling the handset a nearly perfect phone that comes in some good dimensions to fit in our palms. OLED screen is quite good and since it consumes lesser power, Samsung S8000 Jet is capable of providing better battery life in comparison to its competitor phones.
Strangely, it is not easy to say that the phone is perfect yet one could not find any drawbacks in it as well. For example the media and music features are not the greatest we have had, yet there is nothing wrong with them as well. Camera is a big surprise with such nice features to look forwards to.

What’s bad about the Samsung S8000 Jet

If there are many features to like, there are many to dislike as well. This is basically because of the TouchWiz 2.0 operating system incorporated in the handset.
Samsung S8000 Jet has the worst possible internet browser. It could definitely have had a better one knowing the present day requirement of internet browsing with the users.
The same holds true for the home screen and even the widgets. Social networking is placed in the home screen, however, there is no such feature that the phone supports.

Samsung S8000 Jet Review

Interface
TouchWiz 2.0 is incorporated in Samsung S8000 Jet along with 3D cube system which allows customizable home screens.
The interface is proprietary TouchWiz in Samsung S8000 Jet and the company has done so because it wanted to keep the price of the mobile phone low. The interface is decent but is power hungry. With a leading power processor, using such an interface is quite disappointing though.
The touch screen is not as responsive as it should have been. Say, if you have a missed call and you want to view it, it takes a couple of times to press the view button. This really irritates a lot and one gets fed up in due course of time.
Here you have three different home screens in the user interface and you can have new wallpaper in each. Even the sets of widgets can be customized by the user as he likes. It really seems tempting. However, the icons already there on the screen are a bit boring. The widgets are basically not too cool. At times you feel that the widgets are too big and loud as well.
We have Symbian style menu icons on Samsung S8000 Jet menu system in order to imitate iPhone, which in reality hold no meaning.
It is fun to unlock the phone. It can be done by drawing an icon. On the whole it is a good user interface; a few misses here and there yet is worth it!

Calling and contacts
One would find calling in Samsung S8000 Jet quite satisfactory. The coverage for calls is any day good and better than the rest of the mobile phones presently in the market. This is mostly contributed to 3.5 G HSDPA coverage which keeps on shifting bands in order to provide a good calling experience to the user.
In your Samsung S8000 Jet, you can only press the call button and view the calls received or made in the recent past. From here you can not only make a call on the same number but can also use the number for messaging purposes.
The phone book or the contact book is nice and holds colourful interface. The icons to call are big and striking and thus stand out. However, scrolling through these icons is a problem.
You can make both voice call as well as video calls and enjoy some really nice calling experience on your Samsung S8000 Jet.

Internet
This was what we were waiting for to talk about. You cannot have experience a worst internet on any other phone. The internet on Samsung S8000 Jet seriously needs some improvement. The address bar does not move and the multiple pages are not possible to open until and unless you have lots of patience.
It is not that the features are not there. It is just that the phone does not know how to use them completely.

Camera
One of the best features we could have had in Samsung S8000 Jet is its camera. A 5 megapixel camera is what you can expect and that too with dual LED. The snaps are of the best quality possible and you can see clearly lights and shades, which are an example of a good picture.

You have variety of modes like night mode, sunset, sports, dawn etc which make you capable enough you take better pictures, so if you love to click around, you need not take a camera with you when you have your Samsung S8000 Jet in your pocket.

Lacking point here is the missing digital zoom but since the shots are so good, you would not miss it. And if you are worrying if you would be able to store all your snaps or not, don’t worry because the Samsung S8000 Jet mobile phone supports 2GB memory to take care of that.

Video recording is very much possible on Samsung S8000 Jet and one can have 30 frames per second, which is not at all bad.

Video
Video watching is a great experience on Samsung S8000 Jet. The AMOLED screen oozes out some really nice and bright colours and the contrast ratio is also awesome. However, the 3.1 inch wide screen is not apt for watching videos yet because of the quality you get, you won’t surely crib.

Music
Here we have kind of mixed review. Some of the most amazing features can be found in the Samsung S8000 Jet mobile phone when it comes to music like FM recording and audio recognition. However, at the same time, the music player of Samsung S8000 Jet is quite basic in nature.
The real improvement lies in 5.1 Channel SRS because of the kind of audio quality we get. The playback options are really good and the same is true for playlist options. Flow of covers can be accesses if the phone is flipped sideways.
However, it is quit annoying that one can’t add on art album within the phone. Thus, you get a lot of inconvenience of connecting first to the PC. With a processor of 800 MHz, we were expecting a better visualization of music which we could not get in Samsung S8000 Jet.
FM radio is a really good application in Samsung S8000 Jet because of its ease of usage and a nice reception no matter where you are. The FM radio can identify tracks playing and the best part is that you can record them also.
The Find Music option sends the track to be recorded to the server and then you get details about it like the artist, album name and from where you can download it. This is quite an achievement which we feel is really commendable.

Applications
Good and decent applications can be expected from Samsung S8000 Jet. The things are standard here too just as in any other handset. You have Google Maps, Search, Mail running in Java but are very basic in nature.
However, we missed the Maps not offering us My Location service. Many features that are important to have and exist in Gmail have been removed from Samsung S8000 Jet.
However, remaining functions are really good. Photo contact is a good application included wherein you can add a photo next to a contact.
The other options are certainly worth taking a look at, even though they’re never going to be deal breakers for a phone like this. Many may not find a point in this one but it is really good to play around with.
A comprehensive video editing application awaits you in Samsung S8000 Jet. You can cut, paste, copy, add audio music etc.
A paint program that can be called as the canvas is very tempting. Good fun for college going kids but nothing of use for executives.

Gaming
The controls are really sensitive on Samsung S8000 Jet and that is the reason why the users enjoy playing games on their mobile phones so much.
Rests of the applications are normal or standard what you get in other phones except for rollercoaster which is quite a fun.
Another interesting advantage of Samsung S8000 Jet is that it enables the user to unlock the screen. This can be done by simply writing on the lock display any letter. But here is a flaw with the phone that it does not open with letter C and with letter T it opens the internet.

Battery life and organizer
Samsung S8000 Jet is incorporated with OLED screen which consumes much lower power than its LCD counterpart and thus the long lasting nature of the battery increases. Even with heavy usage the battery support lasts for a day and a half which is good enough. Even if you are using 3G technologies too often or too heavily, still the battery support is decent enough. No complains in this domain for sure!
Peeping into the Organizer of Samsung S8000 Jet, we have calendar and memo applications that are really good. They work well and ensure that the user make use of them aptly. There is reminder for birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates that help the user a lot.

Software
In Samsung S8000 Jet, you would find PC Studio 3.1 which has brought a revolution in the mobile market. Your mobile phone turns into a PDA portal with this amazing software. You can access your organizer in a separate window. The same is true for movies, text messages and photos.
The amazing interface which has made every user its fan is because of this outstanding software only. Your Samsung S8000 Jet can encode the files and is supported by Mp4, AVI and DivX in doing so. This software has transformed the whole dimension of Samsung S8000 Jet.

Memory
Samsung S8000 Jet comes with micorSD port and the greatest quality of the handset is that it can be used any time as a modem. Enough internal memory to store your data but in case you want, memory card slot support is always there.

Connectivity
Samsung S8000 Jet is a set of technologies packed in a mobile phone and that is true for the technologies it supports when it comes to connectivity as well. We have Bluetooth, GPRS and even WiFi features.
All the options are available on the home screen and that is a plus point. The usage of these is really quick and easy and you would love web browsing with WiFi. However, GPS seems to be a bit erratic yet the performance of Bluetooth is quite good and it is very easy to connect using it.

Final Words and Conclusion

Samsung S8000 Jet is capable of doing lots of tasks and the best part is that it does them really nicely. One can’t call it very cheap phone in terms of its value but unfortunately the design is not at all pleasing and looks cheap and inexpensive.
Don’t go by looks. The phone is much more capable than what we thought. It is a pleasure to own for those who are tech savvy but the phone could be a bit heavy on your pockets. So go for decent hardware and some really impressive software in Samsung S8000 Jet.
