Fujifilm FinePix F200 EXR Review

No doubt Fujifilm FinePix F200 EXR provides very good high resolution, low noise, sharp images. Its 12-megapixel sensor is large measuring 1/1.6 inches across the diagonal, almost twice the other cameras thus making a huge difference in the results. The EXR mode only takes pictures in 6-megapixel but it does not affect the quality of images to a normal user unless you need to make posters. But than EXR mode can be switched off to take full advantage of its 12-megapixel sensor, creating sharpest and finest images.

FinePix F200 EXR is sturdy and compact and is reasonably lightweight. The control buttons and mode dials are positioned on the right side for easy use. 3-in LCD screen is clear and bright but the images look a bit dark in sunlight. The zoom control is near the shutter-release and the F-button is a shortcut to some functions that makes it easier to navigate.

There are four inbuilt EXR modes available

• HR/Resolution Priority; it allows you to take pictures at the maximum resolution of 12-megapixels.
• SN/High ISO & Low Noise; it allows you to take great pictures by defusing pixels to reduce graininess providing better results than normally gained. It produces better results in darkness.
• DR.D-Range Priority; it take two pictures simultaneously with high and low sensitivities and combines them to produce a high quality image. It is increasingly helpful where you are taking photos of high contrast subjects with combinations of shadow and bright areas.
• EXR Auto; practically does everything automatically, you only need to select the type of scene.

Picture quality is very impressive with providing good results for both bright and dark subjects maintaining details and sharpness. The 28-mm wide angle lens does a good job but there can be some distortion at the wide end. There can some coloured fringing in complex areas but it is not huge.

FinePix F200 EXR comes with a built in memory of 48MB, which is very little and means you can only save around 10 images of highest resolution. The users may need to add an extra memory card which will add to the cost.

Final Words and Conclusion

FinePix F200 EXR is evidently a solid compact providing the user with high resolution, great quality, detailed and sharp images. There is no doubt that even the casual snapper can take the best images using its EXR modes and excellent sensors. You will not find a better camera with this price range and these great features.
